2020 Bullet Journal Spread

The new year has finally arrived. This new year is special because it is the end of a decade. 10 long years of ups and downs, lesson and good times. 2020 has so much in store, and I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait.

Bullet Journaling has become a huge part of my life since I started journalling in my handmade hobonichi back in 2017. I switched to the bujo in 2018 and never looked back. It has been a no-pressure book that keeps me organized. I write about my goals, my ups and downs and splatter my creativity in bullet pages. When I first started, I followed a lot of Plan With Me’s to get the hang of it, and get ideas of which spreads to include in mine. In the past 3 years, I have found what works for me, and started journaling on my own. I still get inspiration from Pinterest, the Bullet Journal community on the Amino App and of course YouTube and if you’re starting out on your bujo journey I suggest starting there too.

Lets get started with 2020!

  • Time and Creativity

This year I am still sticking with my shades of grey, minimal colour scheme but I am adding hints of Gold and Silver for accents. I saw this beautiful image on Pinterest of a similar cover page for 2019 and decided to recreate it for this year. The quote itself was very fitting and it tied in perfectly with my theme.

On the next page, I decided to write out my goals for the year. I kept with the same 8 goals as I did in my previously bujo: Word of the Year, Personal, Travel, Art, Fitness, Finance, Career and By This Time Next Year. It’s important to write your goals down. Take some time to think about what you want this new year/ new decade to be about. Once again, I got the lettering from a 2 page goal spread I saw on Pinterest and made the rest my own. The quote on the other side is a little reminder for me everytime I look at my goals. One thing you’ll notice about me is my bujo spreads are filled with quotes. I have a dedicated quote journal that I write all the sayings and quotes that inspire me from books, speeches, podcasts etc… that I find on the internet.

“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goad broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action becomes reality.”

You’ll notice that there is one page missing from my spread this year. This is the annual calendar. I always found I never really looked back at it so it seemed a little tedious for me to write out (it is 365 days written in tiny font). So this year, for the first time, I omitted it. I don’t think I’ll miss it much. Instead I have this clean layout for birthdays, events and such so I can fill in days that are important without having to write everything out. This worked well for me last year, so I am doing it again.

By far, this is one of the most useful spreads you can ever draw out. A grid cheat sheet. I drew it in my 2019 bujo according to the bujo goddess, AmandaRachlee and copied the exact same spread into this one. As someone who draws a pretty minimalistic spread, it is so helpful to have the measurements already laid out for me. This page is a must-have. If you’re going to be using this spread, you’ll want to make sure it is on the left-hand side of your page, because it makes it easy to find and use while you’re drawing.
