How To Repurpose Your Skincare + 18 Brands with Recycling Programs!
Did you know that only about 10% of the plastics we use are recycled? As beauty consumers, we are uniquely aware of how much plastic consumption we participate in. There is much we can do to aid in the rejuvenating of the earth individually, but this is no much to be done on a global, industrial scale. It is incredulously important to be a conscious consumer and support the brands that are doing their part to create positive change for our Earth.
Here are some ideas to get you started on ways you can Recycle and Repurpose your Skincare Products, and brands to support that are doing the same!
Step 1:
Finish what you already have. There’s no point on consuming more to replace un-emptied products. Use what you have first.
Step 2:
It’s no longer enough to simply mitigate our plastic problem, we have to change the way we source and produce. Look for companies that support:
Sustainable Ingredient Sourcing
Sustainable Packaging
Reusable/Refillable Packaging
Actively Helping Remove Plastics from the Environment

Step 3:
Actually recycling/repurposing! Glass and jar packaging is really easy. Clean it out, remove the label and refill with:
skincare samples
vitamins
jewelry when traveling
Any products that don’t work well on your face (ex. breaks you out/leaves a white cast) use them on the rest of your body if that part is not as sensitive or give them away to a friend who will use it.
Step 4:
Check the back of the product or website on how to properly dispose/recycle. Most have specific instructions on how to do so. Be sure to follow them otherwise it defeats the purpose.
Step 5:
