REVIEW: Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50

Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50

I AM ALWAYS on the hunt for a great sun-protection that doesn't compromise my makeup look. As an avid makeup wearer, I pay very close attention to the texture of everything that goes on my face. I want my SPF to do its job without making me feel like I have a thick mask on my face before I even apply foundation (talk about cake face).

WHAT IS MORE CHALLENGING... finding an SPF that doesn't leave a purple-ish cast over dark skin. I got a sample of the Demalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 and tried it for 14 days to see how my skin liked it.

My Experience

This sun protection is the epitome of luxury, and with a price tag of $104.00 CAD on the Sephora website, it better be. It is a lightweight, creamy lotion with a mild medicinal scent. The website says that its gluten-free, vegan, has no artificial fragrance or colours, and is paraben and cruelty-free. What I love most about this Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF is that it is the whole package. Not only is it formulated with Dermalogica's patented technology that boosts the effectiveness of protection from UV rays, but it is also designed to minimize "skin-aging triggers", while its blend of polypeptides helps to "encourage collagen-producing activates.”

Anything that makes my daily routine quicker is GOLDEN in my book. In the mornings, I don't feel like I need to even apply moisturizer. I did find that my skin T-Zone was very oily during the daytime so I made sure to use the Jackie Aina powder first trick on my T-Zone to keep that oil at bay.

The only thing is that I did break out a little bit on my cheeks (but that probably had more to do with my hormonal fluctuations that were starting soon that with this moisturizer). That just goes to say, make sure you cleanse your skin properly after applying this because as with any SPF it will clog your pores if you sleep with it on.

Overall

It’s a really great SPF for those with combination-to-dry skin, feels great, very hydrating, doesn't irritate the skin, wears well under foundation, and is brown-skin-girl approved! It has a pretty price tag but its worth every penny!
