3 Month Update: Dr V Lip X Hyperpigmentation Treatment

Hyper-pigmentation is by far the number one skin concern for people with darker skin complexions. The products contain tyrosinase inhibitors to help reduce the production and appearance of hyper-pigmentation. With anything that fades dark spots, it takes time to see results. Today is an update on the initial review I posted for this Dr V Lip X Kit, the first at-home treatment for hyperpigmentation for people of colour. I will be covering some of the FAQs about this kit, how long it lasts, and before and after photos of my hyperpigmentation.

How long does it take to work?

The first thing to note is that hyper-pigmentation takes a while to fade. You’ll want to use this 2-3 times a week for 3-6 months to see a noticeable difference.

How long does the kit last?

A fair question to ask seeing as the kit does retail for 95 EUR so it’s important to know if you’re getting bang for your buck. In truth, you do not need a lot of this product to work. The lip mask is the powerhouse of the collection, you just need a small bead to see results. It’s not about how much you use, but how often you use it. I have been using it for 3 months now, and I still have 2/3 of each of them left so I’m sure I’ll make it to the 6-month mark.

My Experience

One thing to mention is that the lip balm is very lightweight, almost like a serum. This is good because it really softens the lips rather than simply sitting on top of your lips. However, it is almost too lightweight to wear overnight. The instructions do say to do the routine 2 hours before bed. I suggest putting on an occlusive lip balm after the 2 hours so that your lips don’t dry out overnight. And make sure to wear SPF on your lips in the morning. The one I have is the Blistex 15 SPF.

As you can see, that is quite a stark difference. My lips are smooth and soft, bright and more even-toned. I am very happy with how they look right now. I really did not notice a difference until I actually looked at the photos side by side and saw the progression.
