6 Month Update: Dr V Lip X Hyperpigmentation Kit

Hyper-pigmentation is by far the number one skin concern for people with darker skin complexions. The products contain tyrosinase inhibitors to help reduce the production and appearance of hyper-pigmentation. With anything that fades dark spots, it takes time to see results. I have been trying the Dr V Lip X kit for 6 month, today is the final update on the initial review I posted for this Dr V Lip X Kit, the first at-home treatment for hyperpigmentation for people of colour.

OVERALL (6 MONTHS LATER)

Now, to be transparent, I received this product free to try without any expectations to post. When it comes to whether I would purchase this myself (as it is very pricey) had I not been sent the product that is the lens I am using to review this product. The product itself is formulated with quality ingredients, tyrosinase inhibitors, and a plethora of ingredients to target active pigment on the skin. While I do experience a lot of pigmentation (more so on my face) as a deeply melanated individual, my lips were not severely pigmented to start with. Had my lips been darker, perhaps I would have seen a bigger difference. There was a noticeable difference in my lips in the first 3 months of using the product, and at 6 months, the results were simply maintained. I do have a very dark ring around my lips which I saw an even greater difference with this as that area of my lips was heavily pigmented.

If you were to purchase these three products separately, they would cost around 20-30 EUR each (let’s be generous) so it does make sense that for the 3 it would equate to 95 EUR. The only thing I found missing from this kit would be a Lip SPF, which would be very helpful because if you don’t protect your lips from the sun then all of your efforts to lighten pigment would go to waste.

I do believe the product works, it was able to lift the hyper-pigmentation on my lips. So by all accounts, it did exactly what it is supposed to do. 9 months later, I still had 1/3 of all 3 of the products left so it does last a very long time. Base on efficacy, the amount of product, and the effectiveness I would say it’s worth the money. I think someone like me who didn’t have really deep pigmentation to begin with, you wouldn’t need something this powerful. But if you are someone who has significant darkness it may be worth looking into.

For me, my acne scars are so deeply pigmented that I have tried more skincare serums and treatments than I can count, they are still on my skin. For this type of situation, I may need something strong like a kit. The same thing goes for your lips. It’s worth it if you have deep pigmentation, if not, a simple Vitamin C lip mask would do the trick.
